1.How is Copy right Registerted?

An application for copyright registration contains three essential elements: a completed application form, a nonrefundable filinf fee, and a nonreturnable deposit that is, a copy or copies of the work being registered and "deposited" with the Copyright Office.

2.ls Registration of copy right is compulsory?

Answer

Registration of Copyright is not compulsory. Copyright registration only provides a rule of evidence i.e. the copyright registration can be used as evidence when such right is disputed in a Court of Law. Thus, acquisition of copyright in a work is automatic and it does not require any formality.

3.What is a TRADEMARK?

A Trademark is a sign (logo) that serves to distinguish the goods or services of one organisation or individual from those of another. A trademark is a distinctive sign that identifies certain goods or services produced or provided by an individual or a company.

4.What are the signs involved for trademark?

Gographical indications (GIs) identify a good as originating from a particular place. By contrast, a trademark identifies a good or service as originating from a particular company. A trademark often consists of a fanciful or arbitrary sign. In contrast, the name used as a Geographical indication is usually predetermined by the name of a geographical area.

In principle, an industrial design right does not protect the technical or functionaI features of a product. Such features could, however, potentially be protected by a patent.
